Imad Afif Amer

Research Engineer, Lebanon response person for the Migration Governance and Asylum Crisis program (MAGYC).

Imad Afif Amer is an architect and a political and social activist. He is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Urban Planning. Imad is involved in several social campaigns and human rights groups and has participated in several types of research, articles, and advocacy campaigns aimed at achieving social justice, rights, and freedoms for all individuals residing in Lebanon, especially marginalized and vulnerable groups. He is also active in the development of the public policy domain, especially in the realm of government institutions, municipalities, and unions of municipalities. Throughout his career, Imad has contributed to the establishment of several non-governmental organizations in southern Lebanon, mostly aiming to enhance the role of youth, empower them, and encourage them to engage in public affairs. Imad works with the IFPO as a "Research Engineer" in the Migration Governance and Asylum Crises (MAGYC) project, which focuses on studying decisions and policies of governmental and non-governmental institutions that directly or indirectly affect the presence of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, in an attempt to understand how the Lebanese political system in dealing with this issue.
